Customer need

Monitor equipment sold to customers

The customer's need was to implement a system for monitoring the equipment sold to its customers.

The equipment is equipped with meters (supplied by a third party), which needed to be supported by a cloud platform that could accommodate the sending of all data useful for monitoring and sharing with the end customer.

On.Plant solution

With iOTTO everything is kept under control

Onit proposed to Ortea the implementation of iOTTO, an IoT platform that allows the control and efficient management of connected systems and the monitoring of the reduction in energy consumption.

The project involved the use of Onit hardware (initially iOTTO box based on Raspberry PI3 and, subsequently its evolution,iOTTO Edge based on Kunbus RevPI) for the collection of the main data to be monitored (voltage, current, power, etc.) and the application of energy saving calculation algorithms generated by Ortea equipment, so as to allow tracking of the savings and performance of the devices.

In a subsequent phase of the project, some formulas were introduced which, applied automatically via the iOTTO template functionality, allow the automatic creation of the relevant dashboard at each new start-up of a system.

The technological evolution of the hardware, which led to the adoption of a more innovative and advanced tool such as the Kunbus RevPI of iOTTO Edge, has also allowed Ortea to save the installation on each system of the PLC used to manage the control logics timed sampling.

In addition to data supervision, the partnership has expanded thanks to the implementation of AMS: Onit's software for the Asset Management System, designed to enable strategic management of maintenance processes at customers.

Results achieved

Every Ortea customer knows the performance of their machinery

Ortea has achieved the goal of integrating its products with a series of important features.

Thanks to iOTTO, in fact, Ortea has been able to provide each customer with a graphic dashboard through which all the main sampled quantities and the KPIs that measure the performance of the equipment installed by the customer can be monitored in real-time.
