Pick-to-Light

The Pick-to-Light module is based on the use of light devices in the warehouse to highlight the position of the items to be picked up or deposited and the relative quantities.

Fraunhofer IML validation

In 2023 Onit obtained the Fraunhofer IML validation for On.Plant/WMS.
The important German research institute, part of the largest applied research organization in Europe (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft), has certified the quality of the software which allows for optimal organization and complete tracking of warehouse flows, from receipt of goods to shipping and returns management.

Description

Through the use of light devices, the Pick-to-light module simplifies intensive picking and sorting operations, guaranteeing the operator full control.

The programming of the information shown on the display can be customized, such as the colors of the lights and the commands assigned to the display buttons.

The devices can be positioned both on fixed shelves and on mobile structures for multi-order picking.

Advantages

  • Increased productivity, thanks to quick and easy picking
  • Fewer errors during the order preparation phase
  • The intuitive interface cuts down on operator training times
  • Non-invasive installation, adaptable to the warehouse and easily expandable

Pick-to-Light features that improve your work

Information and functional keys

Different types of devices in terms of display (to show relevant information for the pick up/deposit operation) and functional keys (to allow the operator to execute commands directly). The different colors of the lights make operations intuitive and simple.

Pick-to-Light shelving

The devices are placed on the picking locations of a shelving and the display shows the quantity to pick up. If several operators need to access the same location, multiple lights (different for each operator) or a single flashing light in the color of the main operator can be shown.

Multi-Order-Picking Cart

The devices are installed on a mobile structure, with an operator on board, on which various boxes are arranged. Each box can be a destination for picking or a source for a replenishment. The displays support the operator in the multi-order picking/replenishment round, reducing distances.

Picking Bay

Thanks to put-to-light mini-shelving adjacent to each exit of the Automatic Warehouse, multiple orders can be executed simultaneously. The luminous displays show the operator where to place the product to be picked and the relative quantities. Productivity increases when the same item is requested by multiple orders and the checkout sequence is independent from the sequential order preparation.

Automatic-self-Testing

The diagnostic function independently verifies the correct functioning of the device (both for the visual parts and for the functional commands) and sends a report in the event of a detected malfunction. This function allows you to rule out display or procedure errors.

ERP integration

In addition to being fully integrated with the WMS, the pick-to-light module can also be used with external sources, ERP or order portals, which can be easily connected through well-defined and documented standard integrations.
